We are using DokuWiki on a website that provides an on-line commented edition of an 18th-century manual on how to tell good stories, Bérardier de Bataut’s Essai sur le récit.
DokuWiki allows us to do this in a collaborative way, having several people work on the site and improve the text. The site is entirely in French, but feel free to have a look at it: http://berardier.org. There is additional programming for the arrow navigation and the way images are automatically included in the main section of the site. Another site of mine is running on freeguppy because of its bilingual feature; see http://www.christof-schoech.de. Feel free to comment about improving any one of these websites.
My name is Werner Flamme, and since DokuWiki is a great piece of software, I chose it for my personal website www.wernerflamme.name
. I use it as an internal wiki at my office too. It’s handy to place infos without hassling with the company’s CMS, the colleagues can add their comments and it always works, even when the database server has decided to take a break
Thanks to all developers and contributors!
Handy tool for the multilingual translation of my project http://www.firstai.de. Thanks for your work & sharing it to the public, very good job! Your wikiware is easy to understand and easy to modify, best for users who do not like to fuzz around.
I really hope that there are people and companies out there using your wikiware, and at the same time able to understand that it’s definitely necessary to give such projects like yours financial support!
Good luck & thanks again, Kai Kajus Noack
Hi, I run a DokuWiki about the game “The Settlers - Rise of an Empire”/ “Die Siedler - Aufstieg eines Königreichs”, especially for the scripting language Lua. I’ve installed some existing plugins as well as some of my own. Main focus is set to usability, mainly by an easy to use menu-plugin which allows a very easy way of sorting pages at any time.
Come and have a look at the AeK Script-Wiki (German Site).
PS: Falls hier jemand vorbeischaut, der des Englischen besser mächtig ist als ich und versteht, was ich sagen will, wäre es nett, wenn er evt. Fehler korrigieren, bzw. die Formulierungen verbessern würde - Danke!
I began a project a year ago - Folkipedia - and at the time wrote a simple file based wiki (called Sliki). There are now over 1000 pages and I would need a major rewrite to cope with indexing and searching that many pages properly. I came across DokuWiki and it looked ideal, so after playing with it for a few days, I’m migrating to that engine. It looks extremely good with all the templates (I use Arctic at the moment) and plug-ins and is still file based. I have done some quick global changes to convert inside links to start format and saved all the pages as *.txt in the data/pages folder and all seems well! Just a bit of tidying and formatting to do.
A friend of mine had a wiki, a DokuWiki wiki. He told me about the functionality, and got me started, now over 4 years ago.
It started as a place to store all of my neat code (most of the time i’m a .Net developer), but as time moved by i started to use my wiki more and more for other stuff to: store my cv, one page is my default start page for the browser, i keep my todo list here, my communication with employers et cetera.
Now my wiki is filled with 500+ pages (mostly with development info) with info about all I’ve done so far.
It’s been a great assistant for me, and think the DokuWiki wiki rules big-time. Respect for the DokuWiki

I’m using DokuWiki for my own personal homepage
and for the intranet in the company where I’m working.
It’s a great tool! The best of all is the engine,
which allows to import simple and powerful plugins.
For example the image gallery or the monobook template.
I use it as an archive of stories I wrote over me.
I’m talking on my homepage about Jesus and my little 777 world.

With aid of DokuWiki kmlwiki.de is more than a traditional placemark collection. In kmlwiki.de we collect Points of Interest (POIs) and present them with the Google Earth Browser Plugin.
Compared to conventional placemark collections, we put emphasis on an adequate description of the POIs and on interlinking them as far as possible.
Some nice example pages which demonstrate the potential of DokuWiki in combination with Google Earth are Magic Kingdom, München, and Großglockner.
If you want to contribute with your own POI, you can do this easily here ...
I have used many wiki’s for documentation when working in IT at every company I have been employed with.

Citadel, an open source groupware project, moved its web site from Joomla to DokuWiki in January 2007 because it is much easier for a team of documentation editors to maintain. The Joomla template that was in use was translated to DokuWiki template format, and the wiki-style edit controls were hidden from public view. This site demonstrates the power of DokuWiki in a situation where a site’s audience is large, its group of maintainers is relatively small, and DokuWiki simply provides easy and powerful maintenance tools.

DokuWiki is used to enable a small villages web site http://www.eckelsheim.de (German language). The collaborative principle which has been basis for a number of community projects is now also realized in the web site. And only contents counts - no more design options for the contributors! DokuWiki was the choice after comparing it with a range of other CMS and Wikis. Installation and configuration was just fun (except for an outside template contribution). Many thanks to the DokuWiki team.
