MediaRename Plugin
What is this ?
Media Files with invalid names can be renamed to valid DokuWiki-media-file-names when they are found in a media directory by the media-manager. Renaming is triggered by a link at media-managers left-side area.
Such a filename fixing can be needed, if files were not uploaded with the media manager but copied via the servers filesystem. Take notice: recursive renaming works, but stops inside renamed directories. Re-run the action in that case, as long as no more invalid filenames were encountered.
Download and Installation
Install the plugin using the Extension Manager and the download URL above, which points to latest version of the plugin. Refer to Plugins on how to install plugins manually.
The former version of this plugin could still be available at the following URLs:
http://develop.servus.at/software/mediarename-2009-12-02.tgz
http://develop.servus.at/software/mediarename-2009-12-02.zip
Usage
If the plugin is installed, a quicklink is shown in the left-side-area of the mediamanager. Clicking it, converts all invalid media filenames to valid ones. Recursively processing all sub-namespaces can be chosen.
Mediamanagers usual behaviour is to show a message for each invalid mediafilename found. Clicking the rename-link shows a message for all renamed files. To get rid of this (list), just refresh the view (by clicking the namespace)

- The recursive renaming does not truly work yet: in case that a directory had to be renamed, recursion breaks - possible invalid filenames inside that directory are not renamed.
Simply run the function a second time !
(This break is kept for the case that a directory has to be renamed exactly to the name of an already existing directory - to prevent the unintended moving of the files from the first dir to the existing dir (that would follow from the recursive process)
Didn't come around this till now… Well, being forced to click several times if there are directories with invalid names is not the worst that can happen… at least you see what you are doing;-))
- Keep in mind: DokuWiki skips all filenames in the mediadir beginning with '.', ':', '_'. as hidden files.
As you possibly could use this plugin for bulk-renaming digi-cam photos with typically uppercase-names which you didn't load through media-manager you might find that some cams name the .jpgs like: '_IMG-xxx'. Unfortunately such files are not recognized by DokuWiki and thus also not renamed by this plugin.
User comments
- I can see no rename link. Deleting and re-installing the plugin doesn't help. How do I get it to work? 2015-06-03
- I could not find the rename link, I just opened the lib/exe/mediamanager.php?rename=recv URL by hand.
- The plugin allows anyone with READ permissions to start the auto-renaming. If you want permissions of at least AUTH_DELETE, change AUTH_READ to AUTH_DELETE in the plugin source.
- WARNING The mediarename plugin isn't adopted yet to jQuery. That could lead to a misfunction of other plugins! — konus 2013/12/27 22:58
