config:deaccent
Table of Contents
Configuration Setting: deaccent
When this is set to 1
, accented chars in page names will be replaced by their unaccented ASCII equivalents. E.g. ü
becomes ue
or á
becomes a
. When set to 2
, romanization of pagenames is turned on: symbols from non-Latin alphabets are replaced with close ASCII equivalents. Setting the value to 0
turns off this feature altogether.
- Type: Number (
0
-2
) - Default:
1
Warning: Changing this option could cause unintended behaviour.
Romanization recommended
For the following languages it is recommended to set the deaccent option to 2
:

ä
toa
instead ofae
) - Russian
- Japanese
- Korean
- Hebrew
- Arabic
- Greek
- Thai
