Configuration Setting: basedir
Location of dokuwiki on server - blank for autodetect
- Type: String
- Default:
Usually DokuWiki can detect the directory that it is installed in on its own (autodetect). But sometimes this does not work for various reasons. If DokuWiki does not seem to function properly and cannot find things such as images for its web pages, you can set the directory here.
The path you should set here, is the path from the server root to your DokuWiki installation.
Comment: The above sentence is confusing me. It was said by another editor that “this setting is not about the server working dir”, yet the above sentence says “from the server root”. How should this setting be defined? Where is dokuwiki being defined from? Should it instead say “from the website root directory to your Dokuwiki”?
If your wiki is available at
http://www.yourserver.com/dokuwiki/
you are likely to set basedir to
/dokuwiki/
. Be sure to have a leading and a trailing slash!
If your DokuWiki installation is located directly inside the server root or a subdomain like
http://www.subdomain.yourserver.com
you should set the basedir to
/
a single slash.
Danger: Changing this option could make your wiki and the configuration menu inaccessible.
